Best Chinese food around in my neighborhood. I had the curry chicken and I loved it. It was a very large portion too. And it was ready to go in 5 minutes! Came back again to get the same dish & something new. I tried the spring roll and the pork roll, both were excellent. I also asked if he could make me a dish nobody makes unless in Chinatown somewhere far away. He gave me a funny look, like, you eat "salted fish"? I used to get a salted fish fried rice in Seattle's International District and it was extremely addictive. So it did not hurt to ask because he gladly made it for me with a big smile. Needless to say it was spectacular. So I'm hooked. This is the go to place for Chinese. ...and they sell Coca-Cola.

I go here twice or three times a month to get my Chinese food fix. There is nothing to really rave about or travel far distances to eat at Beijing Kitchen. What it is worth going for is some cheap, delicious, and oh-so-good Americanized version of Chinese food. The decor of the place is of a very typical carry-out Chinese restaurant. When you walk in, there typically one person behind the cash register and one in the kitchen. After paying for your food, sometimes the cashier person goes to the kitchen to make your food. The lunch specials range from $5.25-$6.50 and come with an egg roll and your choice of white or fried rice. They have all your favorite dishes that you gobbled up on those late college nights. To name just a few of their menu items, they have General Tso Chicken, Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Hunan Beef, etc. In conclusion, if you are in the neighborhood and are craving for some Chinese then you can't go wrong with Beijing Kitchen. It is meant as a cheap quick take-out place and you should not take your date or your parents here. One thing they do need to improve on is closing at random times on random days and not really following their own hours on the door. I have been disappointed three times by now when I merrily skipped to this place to fill my breakfast-lunch-dinner cravings only to find out that the place was closed at 4 freakin' PM in the afternoon on a Saturday.

This place looks like a complete shit hole. If you can get past that, inside is the best fried rice in town. The inside is dirty and gross, and there isn't even a sign that says "Beijing Kitchen" outside, just "Chinese Food." For the longest time I called it "Chinese Food" and thought of it as the gross Chinese joint I would never eat at across from the liquor store. Then one day I tried their fried rice. Holy cow. It's so freakin good. It's fresh, flavorful and high quality. Cheap, too. I haven't tried anything else except the crab rangoons, which are also yummy. I've heard good things about the rest of their menu, though. The service is great too. I only ever see a woman and her husband in the kitchen. He cooks and she takes orders. She is so beyond nice. The other day I went to pick up a carry out order and realized I had left my card at the bar the previous night. I didn't have any cash on me either. She let me go and said "It's okay, just pay me tomorrow!" How sweet is that?

I can't believe how generous this place is! Food portions and customer service was phenomenal. Definitely one of my favorites. Try to get the house fried rice - 3 meals for the price of one!

I've spent the last year of my life eating on Beijing Kitchen (or Beijing Chicken, as we call it in my household, after a misstep of words at one point that turned into an inside joke) and I've always been impressed. Yesterday, I was blown out of the water by this humble little restaurant. I moseyed in around noon on a Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised that they still offer lunch specials on Sundays, as I've found that most places don't. Their list of specials is impressive, and each comes with the entrée of your choice, white or fried rices, and your choice of crab rangoons (which are fantastic), egg roll, or soup (hot and sour, wonton, or egg drop), all for $6.50. I had the sesame chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup, while my lady had the orange chicken, white rice, and crab rangoons (or crab cheese, as they call them). I've got a pretty hefty appetite, so often times, I'm a little hesitant about getting lunch specials, worrying that I won't get enough to eat, but Beijing Kitchen blew me away. The food was so, so, so fresh and so, so, so delicious, and talk about healthy portions. The container was practically overflowing with wonderfully sticky sesame chicken, with just the right amount of heat to the sauce. My girlfriend wasn't able to eat all of her orange chicken, which left me a nice lunch to have earlier today. Two thumbs way up for freshness, quality, and value.

Good buffet. Surprisingly easy parking and inside dinning, for center city eats. I wouldn't say it is the best Chinese food in GR, but it is good, cheap and easy to get to.

I imagine their food could be good if it were hot, but we arrived at 3:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon, and they brought out one tray of various dim sum, from which we selected maybe 8 different items. That was a mistake, for every one of them was room temperature. We did order one thing off the menu, and it was good enough.

In my opinion, this is the best Chinese food in Grand Rapids. Fast, fresh, tasty. I especially recommend their Hunan and Szechwan dishes. Ambience is simple but adequate for dining in, take-out is excellent (for sweet & sour chicken, they put the sauce on the side so the crispy chicken didn't get soggy on the way home). Nice folk operate the restaurant. Here you pay for good food, not fancy decor. Edited my review's ratings after subsequent trips deemed it isn't quite as good as my first time there. But still, for Grand Rapids, it's the best option for Chinese.

Best Chinese food in GR for takeout! Like many others have shared the building doesn't look nice but the food is amazing. I am very picky about what I think tastes good and have tried so many Chinese restaurants that just didn't cut it. I am happy to say I have found my go to chinese restaurant in GR!

Never judge a book by its cover. This place just looked like a normal crappy chinese restaurant, but we heard good things and decided to try it. The food here is excellent, and their orange chicken and sesame chicken is the best I've ever had!! Their portions are enormous, and they have great prices. Their lunch and dinner specials are great deals, with a very nice size portion, served with fried rice and choice of egg roll or crab rangoon. Their egg rolls are excellent as well. The wrapper wasn't chewy like most, and it was cooked perfectly! If you are downtown, this is a go-to place for Chinese food in Grand Rapids! I will have to try their lunch buffet sometime as well, but for now I'll stick to carry out, since they don't keep the heat on too high in the winter.

The only reason this place doesn't rate 100% is because of the appearance. Amazing, food, portions, and prices! Mom and pop style Chinese restaurant, food is full of flavor owners are amazingly nice!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
